As it was probably obvious by the name of my blog, I always get really excited about Easter! My apartment is basically decorated for Easter year round (so much bunny artwork), but If I get an excuse to go all out and add pastel colors then I am 100% going to go for it. The Best of Bunny Baubles March 2017
I’ll be honest with y’all that I let the blog slip a little this past month. One week I only managed to get one post up, and another week my Thursday post became a Friday post. Here are my excuses (which I feel are very legitimate):
- MY BEST FRIEND GOT ENGAGED! Megan and I have been talking weddings and celebrating all month long. It only happens once so I had to take advantage of every last minute.
- A bunch of my friends got into residency programs and are making moving plans which is exciting and depressing all at once – I am so proud of them!
- I’ve been working out four time a week for Lent and it turns out that is quite the time consuming task.
- I went on vacation to New Orleans with my family for a week – get ready for a travel guide!
- Work was legitimately CRAZY.
Really though, I actually have about 15 projects going on at once right now, and I have just gotten around to photographing them, so get ready for a blog busy April!
Remember those candles I promised last month? They’re coming! Remember the engagement party plans? Also coming! I have two dresses in the works, new home decor posts (Easter and general), and delicious baked goods (no, I have not gotten over my recent muffin obsession).
This last March I also shared with you my food photography tips and tools – it seemed to be a hit! Are there any other posts like that that you would like to see?? Did you miss it? Check out all of the posts from last month below!

How We Learned
Copycat MISA Ombre Tassel Earring DIY

You know when you see something in the stores and you’re like, how in the world can they charge that price for that item? Sometimes it’s really high quality materials. OK. Sometimes it’s handmade and part of the proceeds go to help children go to school in a war torn country. OK. This time, I’m not buying it.
DIY Chiffon Maxi Circle Skirt Sewing Tutorial
I’m going to go ahead and say that the alternative title to this blog post, or the nickname if you will, is the Belle skirt. Growing up I would shriek at my mom to put on “Beauty Beast” pretty much any time I found myself in front of the television. The songs, the story, and that yellow dress were all I really needed in life. Continue reading “DIY Chiffon Maxi Circle Skirt Sewing Tutorial”
Tips for Bright and Colorful Food Photography
One year ago I would not have considered myself an expert on how to photograph anything, let alone style food and products for a blog. Heck, I still don’t even consider myself and expert! But over the last few months I’ve received questions about how I photograph my baking and cooking and have been asked to style and photograph products for a company’s website, so I guess I do have a few tidbits of knowledge to share! Sewing Projects for Spring
As Spring is quickly approaching and Summer is nearly on the horizon, I’ve been getting so inspired to sew! Since I’m working on so many projects right now and haven’t had much time to photograph them, I thought it would be fun to share my sketches with you and show you a little of my design process. I’m not the best artist, and I don’t totally have the fashion sketching thing down, but at least it all comes out the way I imagine it in my head.
So what is on the agenda? (Or at least in theory… I never have time for all of my projects!) First, I’m thanking the fashion gods for allowing ruffles to be in season this year because I absolutely love them. I’m looking to make a couple of dresses that I think would be absolutely perfect for weddings since they are great for dancing in. I’m also planning to work with lace – what a shocker – but it’s the most feminine way to make tops and dresses, and I can’t say no!
The first is a blue, strapless cocktail dress made from an embossed neoprene scuba fabric. I fell in the love with the fabric first, and since it is so busy and structured, I thought it would lend itself perfectly to a simple silhouette with a little volume.
Another dress I have in mind is a pink and white striped, drop waist ruffled dress. I had planned to make mine red like this dress I found at Nordstrom, but sometimes you just go to the store and a fabric speaks to you. This pink and white striped shirting fabric (similar fabric here, could not find the same one online) is so light, so it will be my go to in the sweltering days of the Summer. I may even line the dress… or even make it reversible!? (I told you I can get overzealous.)
Yet another dress? Yes. I really want a version of this guy. It’s just so expensive and I just can’t bring myself to buy it. There have been a couple of copies made that are similar like this one and this one, but I still don’t have a reason to spend that much on a dress that I can’t even wear to someone’s wedding since it’s white. So it’s time to make it. This one will be a challenge for me since I don’t make a ton of structured and non-stretch pieces, but I want to work on it. I’m considering using a stretch lace to make it a little simpler to fit.
The last piece I’m really excited about is a white off the shoulder top. I know, this sounds like every other shirt I already own, but I actually don’t have anything that works well to compliment to the many voluminous skirts I have collected. Somehow in my ridiculous assortment of white and white lace tops, I don’t have any that are dressy and tight, so it makes pairing fancy skirts difficult. This piece will probably be the first that I tackle since I’m so anxious to have it in my closet!
Lemon Chia Seed Mini Muffins
This story starts out on a rainy Sunday morning, curled up in bed dying for a basket of lemon poppy seed muffins. The subtle hint of lemon flavor in a buttery crumb, sprinkled with crunchy seeds and topped with a sweet lemon glaze. I ran out to the store, bundled in a hat and boots, and went in search of poppy seeds and lemons. Continue reading “Lemon Chia Seed Mini Muffins”
